U.S. Census Bureau Economic Survey, Home-based Child Care Services

The U.S. Census Bureau collects information related to various industries (nationally and within states). The NAICS code for child day care services is 6244.  Data is reported for employers (e.g., child care centers with employees) and "non-employers" (e.g., home-based providers who do not have employees, otherwise referred to as sole proprietors who report business earnings based on providing child care services.  These home-based child care businesses may or may not be regulated.
