Virginia Child Care Licensing
In Virginia, licensing requirements apply to providers who regularly care for unrelated children under age 13. Specific licensing rules apply to different types of child care centers and family child care homes. See below for some quick links related to child care in Virginia.
FAMILY CHILD CARE HOMES (Virginia requires licensing as a FCC home when a provider cares for 6 or more unrelated children). The VA State legislature passed a new law in April of 2015. As part of that law, beginning in July 2016, all providers who care for 5 or more unrelated children will be required to obtain a license.
